Mrs. Mary S. Jeffries

Frostburg, Md., Jan. 16 - Mrs. Mary Susan Jeffries, 77, years of age, widow of Samuel B. Jefferies, died at 8:30 o'clock last night at her home, 68 West Union Street, Frostburg. She is survived by the following children: William H., Charles S. Jeffries, vice president of the First National Bank, Frostburg, and George G. Jeffries, of Frostburg, Samuel B. Jeffries, Thomas, W.Va. Mrs. Arthur F. Smith, Lonaconing, and Miss Eva H. Jeffries at home. She also leaves two brothers and one sister, Dr. George H. Hocking, Govanstown, Md., William Hocking, Cleveland, Ohio and Miss Jennifer Hocking, Frostburg.
Mrs. Jeffries was born in Cornwall, England, and came to America with her parents, when six years of age and settled on a farm near Eckhart. She was married in 1865. Her husband Samuel B. Jeffries, died in 1906.
Mrs. Jeffries was the oldest member of the First Methodist Episcopal Church, and was active in the work of that church.
