Francis Xavier Powers parents Henry Powers and Kathleen Toohey born in Ireland. Francis was born in Cincinatti, OH after his parents immigrated from Ireland. He was a liquor distributor and also had a beer garden in Cincinnati. He served nickel beers with a free lunch most notably "Mock Turtle Soup" served with pumpernickel bread and salad, which was a favorite of his customers. Around 1912 -14 Francis closed his business and moved the family to Detroit where he went to work for the auto manufacturers. Subsequently, the family relocated to St. Paul, MN. to be near family living there. They lived at 922 Laurel Avenue, St. Paul, MN.
