Claude F. Pyle, 77, of 1004 N. Main St., Carrier Mills, died 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 1999, in the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.
He was born Jan. 31, 1922, in Saline County, to the late Luther and Effie (Bennett) Pyle.
Mr. Pyle retired in 1987 from Sahara Coal Co. He was a World War II veteran.
He was a member of the Main Street Church of God in Carrier Mills.
Surviving are his wife, the former Stella Barnes; a son, Larry Pyle of Carrier Mills; a daughter, Paula Pyle of Salem; three stepchildren, Charles Rogers of Carrier Mills, Vaughn Rogers of Galatia and Stephanie Williams of Carrier Mills; three brothers, Harold Pyle of Florida, Jack Pyle of Stonefort and Randall Pyle of Carrier Mills; a sister, Mary Margaret Rathbone of Cleveland, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Oral Pyle and Raymond Pyle, and two sisters, Anita Pyle and Irene Adams.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, where friends may call after 9 a.m. until service time. The Rev. Bob Workman and the Rev. John Dunn will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery at Carrier Mills.
