Alonzo is my great grandfather. Alonzo was a farmer had had a lot of sheep & had to do sheep shering & he had a very good dog to help him with the moving of the sheep . Sunday were always gathering day at the farm with family & friends with home made ice cream . Alonzo or lon as he was called had a favoriite nephew that were very close his name was daniel babb . Dan always wanted to be with lon on the farm helping no matter how small in age he was . Lons faviorite food was a thick slice of home made bread warm buttered , pour thick rogers syrup over top , around the edge they poured thick cream . Sounds healthy . They called it the recipe & to watch them eat it you thing that they just died and gone to heaven . Lon took great pride in the farm everything neat & tidy & put away . He was a man with strong convictions . A story that i was told i would like to share aswell . When my grandfather doral was young he lived in a different town that his soon to be wife bertha . Doral was working at there family store doral had a date with his bertha but his father william stone would not let him go until his work was done . It was said that doral got to her house late & had to through little rocks at the window to wake his bertha up . When she woke up she was not happy that doral woke her up & did not show for there date . Doral told her what happened that his dad would not let him leave for his date until all his work was done then she was fine . They stayed and talked for a long time which woke up lon nelson , he had some words with with doral and sent him on his journey home .
