Obituary: Thurman L. Hicks Sr. 68 of Oak Harbor, OH passed away early Tuesday morning, August 11th, 2009 in the H.B. Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, Ohio. He was born October 10th, 1940, in Bolen, Kentucky, the son of Elbert and Hester (Bolen) Hicks. On July 1st, 1966, in Oak Harbor he married Inez M. Hurst, and she survives. Thurman worked as a welder for 25 years at White Rock Quarry in Clay Center, Ohio, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Port Clinton Bible Methodist Church. Thurman enjoyed going to church, fishing and woodworking. In addition to his wife, Inez; Thurman is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Cox of Michigan, Laura (Dana) Anderson of Oak Harbor; sons Thurman Jr., David and Robert Hicks, all of Oak Harbor; grandchildren, Charles, Christopher and Cayla; brothers, Herbert (Maggie) Hicks and Lloyd Hicks both of Willard, Ohio; sisters, Violet Tackett of Shiloh, Ohio and Doris Miller of New London, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Enis, Ellis and Norman Hicks; sisters, Omie Wright, Alice Hall and Edna Dugan.
