COAL BROKER DIES AT 69
Robert P. Reed, Sr., 69, a Johnstown coal broker and former coal mine operator, died Tuesday at Windber Hospital. He had been residing at the Luray Hotel, Market Street.
Mr. Reed had been associated with mining interests since approximately 1920 and had operated mines in Cambria and Somerset Counties. He was born July 10, 1896 in Bakerton, a son of E.P. Reed, who ran the general store in that mining community.
Mr. Reed was married to the late Nan (Haynes) Reed. He is survived by a son, Robert P. Reed, Jr., of Ebensburg, superintendant of the cleaning plant at Cambria Slope Mine 33 of Bethlehem Mines Corp., near Ebensburg. (The name and date of this newspaper is unknown; taken from original clipping)

Jr., 319 Tibbott Street, Ebensburg, 3 grandchildren---Robert Poe Reed, III, Christina Lee and Amy Ellen, and sister, Miss Ellen Reed, State College. Affiliated with Franklin Street Methodist Church, Member of Patton Lodge 658, F. & A.M., and Williamsport Consistory. Veteran of World War I, served with Air Force. Manager of Royal Quemahoning Coal Mining Co. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Picking Mortuary where service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. John W. McLeister.
