Sylvia Peters, 97, passed away at her home on Friday, July 2, 2010. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Amalia Zandy; her husband, Fred Peters; her sister and brothers, Leah, Val and Eddie Zandy. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Amalia (Molly) and Frank Korosec; a son and daughter-in-law, Gene Peters and Anne Rutledge; her grandsons, Francis and wife Ronnie Korosec and Bernard Korosec and a granddaughter Elizabeth (Peters) and husband Daniel Klein; and her great-grandsons, Taylor and Ross Korosec. She is also survived by her lifelong friend and sister-in-law, Virginia Zandy; her niece and angel Marguerite Jackson and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who were very devoted to her. Sylvia was witty and mischievous and was a great cook. She was devoted to her family and friends and to the holy rosary. Her children believe she was the world's best mom. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 306 Odell Ave., Endicott. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the Funeral Mass time at 11 a.m. Expressions of sympathy in Sylvia's memory may be made to St. Anthony of Padua Church or to the Lourdes Hospice Program, 4102 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, NY 13850. Sylvia's family wishes to thank Lourdes Hospice and Dr. Frank Floyd and his staff for their care and concern.
