She attended Antlers High School and graduated from Wheelock Indian School. Pauline was proud of her Choctaw heritage. Her clan was ipshi or Turtle Clan.
She was married to O.H. (Othel) Sorrels in 1938, in Antlers. She moved to New Mexico in 1947 and to San Juan County in 1950.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Brantley Nelson; and her grandparents, Sue and Paul Harris.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, O.H. Sorrels; sons, Othel Houston Sorrels Jr. of Kenai, Alaska, Stephen Nelson Sorrels, of Bloomfield, and Joseph David Sorrels, of Springtown, Texas; daughters, Paula Sue Brimhall, of Farmington and Judy Elizabeth Jeter, of Grand Junction, Colo.; and by 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pauline was given the name Other Mother by her first grandchild and the name stuck. Other Mother never met a stranger and probably fed every neighbor kid for blocks around. Everyone gathered at her house.
Other Mother was raised in the Presbyterian church and made sure her family attended often. She was a member of the Farmington Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, at First United Presbyterian Church, 865 N. Dustin Ave., in Farmington. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 27, at First United Presbyterian Church. Sandy Hanna will officiate. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N. Dustin Ave., in Farmington.
Pallbearers are Ralph Paul Brimhall, Josh Brimhall, John Sorrels, Josiah Sorrels, Evan Brimhall and Chris Sorrels. Honorary pallbearers are Nathan Sorrels and Brandon Sorrels.
