Ben Bennett, a well digger, grew to adulthood on his parents' homestead east of La Center, Washington, but spent most of his adult life in Portland, Oregon. He married Nora B. Atkinson at Portland on July 30, 1892. They had no children. In December 1901, Ben moved to Los Angeles, California, to seek treatment for tuberculosis, or "consumption" as it was then called. He died there one month later, at 32.
The widowed Nora Bennett married her second husband, Hubert Hull (1879-1941), a barber, at Vancouver, Washington, on December 26, 1906. The couple were longtime residents of Portland, Oregon, where Nora died at 55.
