He was born on May 2, 1922 in Danville, the son of Hanson and Katherine Boyle Clutter. They preceded him in death. On May 3, 1952, he married Jo Anne Roderick in Danville. She survives.
He is also survived by three sons, Michael Joseph (Janette) Clutter of Terre Haute, Indiana, Michael William Clutter and Stephen H. Clutter both of Danville; nine grandchildren, Jeff (Sarah) Clutter, Chris Clutter, (his fiancé, Jessica Billups), Makayla Clutter, all of Terre Haute, and Billy Clutter, Jamie Gee, Molly Clutter, Andy Clutter, all of Danville, Josie Clutter, and Steven Clutter, of Myrtle Beach, and Ashley Miner of Terre Haute; sister-in-law, Doris (Leo) Milius; brother-in-law, John (Ruth) Roderick and sister-in-law, Pauline Clutter.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Repasy Clutter, one son, M. Edward Clutter, three brothers, Joe, Ed, George, and one sister, Irene.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
