Ashland Tot Found in River This Morning.

The body of tiny Fred Eric Cutter, 2 year old son of Clifford W and Elizabeth Vester (Libby) Cutter of Ashland was found in the river near his home on Winter Street after he had been reported missing by his mother. Mrs Cutter called Town Manager Robert Rhodes and reported the little tot missing and Manager Rhodes notified the Ashland Fire Department.

Manager Rhodes and Fire Chief Homer Young, also Selectman, followed the banks of the river and found the little fellow in about 15 feet depth about 60 feet into the channel, between #2 and #3 mills at Ashland Paper Mills. Dr Samuel Feiner was called and administered artificial respiration but to no avail. Medical Referee Dr R F DeWitt, State Trooper Harold Knowlton, Sheriff Herbert Ash and Police Chief James Harriman were also called.

Little Fred was born June 6, 1953 in Franklin. Besides his parents, he is survived by Carl Clark, 7, and David Norman, 5.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Dupuis Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Walker officiating. Burial will be in Green Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 o'clock Friday. Friends of the family extend their deepest sympathy in their tragedy. >The Ashland Citizen, September 22, 1955, p2.
