David passed away at Rocky Mountain Care Center in West Valley City on December 26, 2010 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

He was born April 16, 1922 in Salt Lake City to Luella Lindsay and James Porter.

He married Phyllis Cooper on August 30, 1950. He later married Zuida Nelson on August 19, 1981.

David loved classical music. He played in the Post Office Band for more than fifty years. He also played in the Murray Symphony. He enjoyed the many trips with the band and time spent with his family. He was a member of the Republican Party.

He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. David was preceded in death by Phyllis, his parents, sisters, and grandchild.

He is survived by his wife Zuida, and children: David Porter Jr., Brian Porter, Susie Peters, Brent Porter, and Julie Palmer, and step-children Kevin Nelson, Kim Leavitt, Kory Limb, Kellie Piper, and Kaylene Martinez. He leaves behind thirty-one grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road (1700 West), with a viewing held one hour prior to the services.
Interment: Redwood Memorial Estates Cemetery.
