Eva L. "Eve" Walzel, widow of John B. "Buck" Walzel, passed from this life at 1:08 a.m., December 22, 2010, at the age of 89 years.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 24, 2010 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Chapel in Jasper, followed by burial at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 23 at the funeral home.

She is survived by their children, Sue Olds of Houston, Texas; Giles Jones of Flagstaff, Arizona; Karen Mermonstein of League City, Texas; Mike Walzel of Collinsville, Texas; and Deryl Hunter of Richmond, Texas. She is also survived by her sister Bea Killian of Houston, Texas, and her brother, Troy Farrell of Wichita, Kansas. Survivors also include grandchildren Kristi Gray, Tiffany Hunter, Keith Hunter; great-grandchildren, Kristopher Duesberg, Samantha Gray, Dakota, A.J. Hunter and Chloe Hunter, and many nieces and nephews.

Eve joined her family and friends in outdoor activities such as camping and boating. She volunteered at a Jasper resale shop benefiting the women's shelter, formerly volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, Texas. She was a Life Member of the Houston Livestock and Rodeo Association and the Houston Farm and Ranch Club. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 6380 of Jasper, a Past President of the Insurance Women of Bellaire, and a member of the Insurance Women of Houston.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
