SCYOCURKA. Rev. Peter Joseph Dionysius Scyocurka, born June 5, 1963 in Framingham, MA, died Tuesday (Oct. 29, 1996) in Wilmington, NC. He was the son of Stephen and Josephine (Pabis) Scyocurka who reside in Somers, CT. Prior to his ordination to the holy priesthood at St. Michael's Cathedral in Passaic, NJ, he graduated from St. Alphonsus College in Suffield, CT, and studied at St. Mary's Seminary in Cleveland, OH and SS. Cyril & Methodius Byzantine Catholic Seminary in Pittsburgh, PA. From Oct. 1995 through May, 1996, he served his deaconal program at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Wilkes-Barre, PA. After which time, he became the associate pastor of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Trenton, NJ. He had been previously employed as a marketing consultant in London, England. Besides his parents, he leaves a brother, Gregory of Vernon; three sisters, Margie Scyocurka of Ludlow, MA, Mary Wittman in Germany and Nancy Hamilton of Wilmington, NC; and three nephews. The Office of Christian Burial for a priest will be chanted on Sunday, 7 p.m., and again on Monday, 7:30 p.m. In Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, Beaver Street, New Britain, CT which was his home parish. Calling hours at the church will be Sunday, 6-9 p.m., and Monday, 3-9 p.m. Services of Christian Burial with Hierarchial Divine Liturgy will take place Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Springfield, MA. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ludlow Funeral Home, Ludlow, MA.
