Sammie Lee Abernathy, 71, formerly of Charlotte, went home on March 15, 2014. He was born on May 17, 1942 to Ralph and Wilma Abernathy in Harrisburg, IL. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and then was employed at Oldsmobile. Sammie enjoyed riding his motorcycle around the countryside, camping & canoeing. He was known for his big heart, and love of life.

Sammie is survived by his wife, Floyce; siblings, Jeffrey (Sandi) Jester of Coloma, Lori (Kevin) Frisbie of Holt, Debra Ribby of Holt, Lisa Wood of Holt; step-mother, Gloria Abernathy; sister-in-law, Kathy Hussey; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Phillip & Richard Abernathy, Duane Jester; sister, Nina Lee; and step-father, Joseph Jester.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 17, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 PM, and Tuesday 12:00-2:00 PM at Pray Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Charles Jenson officiating.
