Mrs. Johnnie Ora Arthur died Friday, November 5, at 3:15 pm. in Collingsworth General Hospital after a lengthy illness. She had been a resident of Thomas Nursing Center since July 1981.
Mrs. Arthur was the wife of George Arthur and the mother of Mrs. Nell McKinney, city secretary.
She first came to Collingsworth County in 1946 and lived here until moving to Amarillo in 1953, living there 28 years.
She was a member of San Jacinto Assembly of God and in Amarillo she was a representative for Avon Products.
Born April 11, 1910 in Comanche, she was the daughter of John Woodard Preacher and Amanda Jane Fulford Preacher.
She and Mr. Arthur were married September 21, 1929, in Hollis. They had lived in Lelia Lake and Weslaco, in the Rio Grand Valley.
survivors are her husband, George Arthur; three daughters, Mrs. McKinney, Mrs. Ruth Allee of Carnegie, OK; and Mrs. Wanda Carver of Denver, CO; one son, Paul Arthur of Amarillo; four sisters, Mrs. Hattie Hensler of Amarillo; Mrs. Nola Henderson and Mrs. Faye Estlack of San Antonio; and Mrs. Ruby Hayes of Coeur d'Alene, ID. There are 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
