ALBERT CARROLL
Albert Carroll, former well-known resident of Whitebreast township, died suddenly at his home in Los Angeles, California, on Saturday, July 15, 1933, at the age of 77 years.
Funeral services were held at that place and the remains were brought to Chariton and interred in the Chariton cemetery on Monday noon, July 24, a brief service being conducted by Rev. A. K. Jones, pastor of the Nazarene church. Pall bearers were his old time neighbors, James Lyons, Charles Mauk and Ray Fain, and the following members of the Nazarene church, George Shore, Sherman Hall, Charles Pettyjohn and H. C. Lane.
Albert Carroll was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 18, 1855. When about three years of age he moved to Melrose, Iowa, where he grew to young manhood. He was married in Lucas, Iowa, August 18, 1890 to Miss Lura Stalcup, who survives him. For many years they resided on a farm west of Chariton in Whitebrest township.
Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Carroll, all of whom are living. They are: Mrs. Florence Rogers, of Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Wilma Lloyd, of Ogden, Utah; Kenneth Carroll and Fred Carroll, of Hayden, Colorado; Mrs. Mabel Parrish, of Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Audrey Benner, of Santa Monica, California; and Ray J. Carroll, of Postville, Iowa. One sister, Mrs. Cinda Cornell, of Creston, also survives.
Mr. Carroll was a brother-in-law to Mrs. Kate Carroll, Mrs. Ella Carroll and George McCabe, of this city. He and family left here in 1920 for Denver, Colorado, where they resided for two years and then moved to Los Angeles, California in 1922 and their home has since been in that city.
