Stuart N. Adams passed away Sunday, Aug. 8, in Issaquah after a brief illness. He was born Aug. 18, 1915 to Charles and Grace Adams in Colbert, and graduated from high school in Chelan, as valedictorian.
He chose funeral directing as a profession, working in Wenatchee where he married his beloved wife, Lois Pfau, on June 27, 1937. He served his country in the Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. He became a partner in Adams Forkner Funeral Home in Seattle's University District and later became sole owner. In 1971 he and Lois moved to Colorado Springs where he became president of Law Mortuary.
Returning to Seattle in 1975 he became manager of the Washington Memorial Park and Funeral Home and later vice- president and co-owner of the Adams Morrison Funeral Home at Acacia Memorial Cemetery. Stuart served as president of the Washington State Funeral Directors Association, national president of The Order of Golden Rule, president of the Allied Memorial Council and the Board of the Washington Interment Association. He represented his profession in "People to People" exchange with Eastern Europe in 1961, thereafter sharing his experiences with many community groups.
Upon retirement he followed his interest in rail passenger travel, serving as an interpretive guide for Amtrak and on the Boards of "All Aboard Washington" and the National Association of Railroad Passengers. His community activities included president of the Wenatchee and University Lions Clubs and chairman of the Seattle Transit Commission. Stuart was also a member of the Seattle Yacht Club, Rainier Club, Lake City Elks, University Post #11 of the American Legion, University Masonic Lodge, Nile Shrine and Scottish Rite. His hobbies included boating, fishing, train travel, Bible study, writing, reading, music and community involvement. His passion was his family and friends.

He is survived by his two children Judy Thomas (Brian) of Renton and Gary Adams (Jonelle) of Bellevue; his brother Robert M. Adams of Mt. Shasta, Calif.; four grandchildren Tyler Adams, Jeff and Kyle Thomas and Cheryl Koon as well as six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 am, Saturday, Aug. 14 at Flintoft's Issaquah Funeral Home, 540 E. Sunset Way with a reception to follow. A brief committal service was held at Acacia Mausoleum Garden Court, at 2:30 p.m.
