Eleanor M. (Matthies) Elsbree, age 84, of Marysville, died peacefully at the Marysville home of her daughter, Meta Rogers on November 1, 2003. Born in Fergus Falls, MN on February 10, 1919. Eleanor was third oldest of seven children born to William and Hazel (Ryner) Matthies. She was raised in Bonetrail, ND before moving with her family to Snohomish, WA in 1937. Eleanor graduated with the class of 1938 from Snohomish High School. She married Norman E. Elsbree on May 13, 1939 and celebrated 44 years of marriage prior to Norman's passing in October 1983. Eleanor and the Elsbree family have been residents of Marysville since the early 1940's. Eleanor's greatest joys in life were her family and playing bingo. She loved her family and spent as much time as possible with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Supporting them with her love, compassion, strength and strong sense of family values. Our family will always remember her kind heart, quick wit and loving smile. We are forever grateful for her unconditional love. Mom, we love you and will miss you, but we know you are in a heavenly place watching over us. Eleanor is survived by her sons, Norman Jr. (Diane), Lester (Barbara), twin daughters Meta Rogers (Raymond), and Margie Roberts. She also leaves her sister and best friend Betty Peterson of Monroe, brothers-in-law Hank Darrow of Everett, Howard Elsbree (Rose) of Boise, ID, and sisters-in-law Lois Dey (Fred) and Betty Matthies of Marysville, Diane Elsbree of Longview, WA; 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband Norman Sr, grandson Duane "Dewey", great grandson Dereck Martin, son-in-law JB Roberts, brothers William, Darrell, Dale; and sisters Wilma and Lois preceded Eleanor in death. We want to thank the entire staff of Group Health Hospital and the support from Hospice of Snohomish County. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to a charity of your choice. Memorial services will be held at 11:00am on November 8, 2003 at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, Marysville. Cremation was conducted. Burial service will be held at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park in Everett. A reception will follow after the cemetery service at the Marysville Kellogg Marsh Grange Hall.
