Margaret was the second of nine children of Gabriel (also found as John) and Elizabeth (Sprague) Love. On March 5, 1756 she married Leonard Spaulding and they had 11 children who are listed on his memorial page. Margaret survived her husband by nearly 40 years living, at first, with her youngest son Josiah and his wife Eunice (Skinner) Spaulding. After Josiah's early death in 1799 at the age of 28, she lived with her daughter Anna and her husband Samuel Laughton, Jr. and their 10 children.
