Mr. Garland Lawton Turner, 73, passed away Monday, July 12, 2010, in the St Vincent Hospital in Jacksonville following a brief illness.

Mr. Turner was born September 9, 1936 in Pierce County, GA, to the late Horace Turner and Mrs. Ola Bowman Turner Mixon. He was a member of the Rehobeth Baptist Church and retired from Guerdon Moblie Home as a Superintendent and a Air Force Veteran. He was preceded in death by a sister, Loretta Hill.

Survivors are his wife, Veta Mattox Turner of Homerville; Two daughters, Christina Rena Turner of Blackshear and Amanda D. Mavxs of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; a son Garland Lawton Turner, Jr. of Blackshear; two sisters, Mary Frances Melton of Kingsland, GA and Abiliene Fore of Tifton, GA and six grandchildren, Caitlyn Johnson, Chelsea Johnson, Brianna Mavxs, Brandi Hendix, Nancy Tatum, Trey Turner and a number of other relatives.

Services for Mr. Turner will be held Friday July 16, 2010, at two o'clock from the Beulah Baptist Church in Pierce County.

Internment will be in the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Turner will be carried to the Church two hours prior to the services.
