Griffin "Jack" BERGER, 78, of 13599 Indiana 10, Argos, died at 4:52 a.m. today in Holy Cross Parkview Hospital, Plymouth, where he had been a patient since Sunday.  He had been in ill health for six years.

He was born June 12, 1908 near Woodland in St. Joseph County to Ferdinand and Hermina SCHEIDEGGER BERGER.  He moved to the Argos community 45 years ago from Chicago.  On Sept. 18, 1937 in Mishawaka, he married Edith YODER, who survives.  A retired farmer, he was a driver for Middle States Motor Freight Corp., in Cincinnati, Ohio.  He was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Church, Rochester, and Teamsters Local 710, Chicago.

Surviving with the wife are four daughters, Mrs. Sam (Carol) MADONNA and Mrs. Richard (Joyce) KOLAR, both of Argos, Mrs. Esther SHEEKS, Rochester, and Mrs. Arthur (Jean) ESKRIDGE, Eddision, Ill.  a son, David [BERGER], Argos; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mabel PERMAN, Zephyrhills, Fla., formerly of Culver, and Mrs. John (Gladys) KEPCHA, Plymouth; two brothers, Homer [BERGER], South Bend, and Howard [BERGER], lymouth, and nieces and nephews.  Preceding in death were a grandson, three sisters, and two brothers.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Grossman Funeral Home, Argos, with Brother David WEINZ officiating.  Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos.  Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, and from 10 a.m. until services Friday.
