FUNERAL FOR DAVID BROCK
Last Rites Held Monday Morning, October 2nd at 11 O'Clock
Funeral services in memory of the late David E. Brock were held from the Austin Chapel, Monday morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by Reverend Harper. Interment followed in Ebenezer cemetery a short distance from Bogard.
David Evans Brock was born on a farm in Carroll county March 10, 1881 and died suddenly at his home in Trotter township Thursday morning September 28, 1944 at the age of 63 years, 6 months, and 17 days. He was the son of W. J. and Mary Alice (Evans) Brock.
His early education was obtained in the rural schools of the community and later attended the Chillicothe Business College. Following the educational period he was employed in Colorado and Kansas City, Mo., for a period of two years after which he chose to return to his home community and take up farming.
On April 6th, 1902 he was united in marriage with Ethel Lou Austin. To this union five children were born: David Milton, Kansas City; Mrs. Jessica Marie New, Kansas City; Mrs. Mary Irene Lutes, Independence; Harry Howard of Bogard and Miss Eva Jean Brock of Kansas City.
Since 1903 Mr. and Mrs. Brock had lived on the farm where death occured, where Mr. Brock had devoted his entire time to farming and livestock breeding with which he has been very successful. He kept well informed on trends, events and issues of the day and his opinion on any subject was considered worthy of note, and was sought by many. He never let his troubles get the best of him and always looked forward and planned for the future.
Besides his wife and children there are surviving two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Hannis of Tulsa and Mrs. Beulah Abel of Fillmore, Calif.; three grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.
At his going the community loses one of its highly respected citizens. He will be missed by all who knew him.
