Heath married Lucille Ellen Parker on October 9, 1943; daughter of Cecil J and Catherine Etta (Trent) Parker. Lucille was born September 30, 1921 in Richmond, VA. Heath died on October 12, 1989 and is buried in Westhampton Memorial Park in Henrico County, VA. They had three children; Marcia Kay Bowman, Darrell Heath Bowman, and David Scott Bowman.
