Funeral services for Ruth C. Dowden, 94, of Hornbeck were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Hornbeck, the Revs. Jerry Key and Ted Cabra officiating. Burial followed in the Toro Cemetery, under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville. Mrs. Dowden was preceded in death by her husband, T.C. Dowden and son, Johnny Mack Dowden. Survivors include three sons, Tommy Ray Dowden of Gloster, Lynn Charles Dowden of Henderson, Texas and Harvey Newton Dowden of Houston; one sister, Beth Williams of Leesville; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 15 great great-grandchildren.
