Roy Davis Stutts, Sr., 90, of Newberry, widower of Alyce "Brownie" Warner Stutts, died Sunday, December 9, 2012, at his residence.

Born on April 26, 1922, in Union, he was a son of the late John McKinley and Janie Brandon Stutts. He was a graduate of High Point University and was a World War II Army Air Force veteran. Mr. Stutts retired as Agent in Charge of the South Carolina Probation and Parole Board. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, was a Shriner for over 60 years and was a past member of numerous community civic organizations. Some of the most precious memories of Mr. Stutts was his time spent coaching little league ball and teaching many children how to water ski on Lake Murray.

He is survived by a son, Roy (Sherrie) Stutts, Jr. of Prosperity; daughters, Marcia S. Parrott of Greer and Pam S. Pitts of Newberry; sisters, Louise Berry and Jane Armstrong both of Fountain Inn, Peggy Rutherford of Columbia and Helen Corley of Florida; brothers, Lewis Stutts of Tamassee and Barry Stutts of Columbia; grandchildren, Kim McMurray, Davis Stutts, Kelly Ringer and Kevin Ptts and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Stutts was predeceased by grandchildren, Tracey Stutts, Brian Parrott and Allison Stutts, a son-in-law, George Pitts, a sister, Sarah Neel and brothers, Herbert Stutts, Johnnie Stutts and Bob Stutts.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home by the Rev. Hugh Bickley. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will be at his residence and will receive friends Monday from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 7506 East Independence Blvd., Suite 120, Charlotte, NC 28227 or to the Shriner's Children's Hospital, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.

Active pallbearers will be Davis Stutts, Kevin Pitts, Woody Ringer, Todd McMurray.

Honorary pallbearers will be Betty Hare, Jarline Sims, Dot Gray, Ann Tuggle, Donna Gaffney, Kim Mayers and Tonya Gillian.
