Services for Dan McLellan Held in Durant
Funeral services for Richard Daniel McLellan, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin M. McLellan, were held from the First Baptist Church in Durant Friday morning, October 15, at 10:00 a.m. with the Reverend Durrell Makamson, the Reverend Cephas Dickerson and the Reverend Smith Whiteside officiating. Interment was in Mizpah Cemetery in Durant with Southern Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Dan was killed in a automobile accident near Goodman, Tuesday, October 12, around midnight.
He was a 1970 honor graduate of Durant High School. He was the recipient of the Wilkes Award for the most outstanding member of his class, and the D.H.S. Leadership Award. He was senior class president and a member of the Glee Club. He was a sophomore at Holmes Junior college.
Survivors include his parents, one sister, Mrs. Gary Reichenbach of Watertown, N.Y.; three brothers, Bill McLellan, Oxford, Joe McLellan, Coffeville, and Pat McLellan, Lexington.
Pallbearers were Mitch Land, Tim Land, John Rhyan,, Jr., Roger Rhyan, David McLellan, and Allan Holditch.
