She was married on 12 June 1904 in Omaha, Nebraska to Rev. Heinrich J. L. Gerland at First Lutheran Church by E.J. Frese, pastor.
After her husband died she returned to Omaha with her son Herbert Henry and made her residence with her parents. She worked with her mother in the Leavenworth Laundry which her father owned. She taught Sunday school at First Lutheran for many years and also served as record secretary for the Sunday school for many years. She wrote a book on the Missouri Lutheran churches in the area for the synod.
She also served as bookkeeper for her father's many rental properties.
After her parents and son died, she made her home with her sister and brother-in-law Mayme and George Meyer.
She learned to write Braille and transcribed books for the church for the blind. She did lovely handwork and china painting.
