Donald L. Young, 80, of Leavenworth, KS died Friday, January 14, 2005 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City , KS . He was born December 1, 1924 in Fredonia, KS the son of Raymond and Ruth Baze Young. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II in the Medical Corps serving in the Philippines and Japan . He worked for Hallmark Cards in Parsons, KS for thirteen years and then with Hallmark Cards in Leavenworth until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Leavenworth for many years. He married Betty L. Trout on May 24, 1958 in Parsons, KS. She survives at the couple's home. Other survivors include two sons Mark (Jeanette) Young, Scottsdale, AZ, David (Janet) Young, Leavenworth, KS and one daughter Sharon (Philip) Tompkins, Spring Hill, KS and 10 grandchildren. Friends may call at the R. L. Leintz Funeral Home from 2-4 PM Sunday. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Monday at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons, KS with burial to follow at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the DAV.
