Ruby L. Noland Sturgill, age 83, of Chesapeake City, MD, died on Friday, July 14, 2006, at Abby Manor, in Elkton, MD.
She was born in Pocahontas, VA to the late Byrl B. and Margie Ashlin. Ruby was a waitress and assistant manager of Shafer restaurant, in Chesapeake City, during the 1950s and 1960s. She was also a waitress at Baker's restaurant, in Elkton, until her retirement in 1985. Ruby was a charter life member of VFW Post #7687 Ladies Auxiliary, in Chesapeake City, MD. She was an avid bowler and she participated in various leagues.
She is survived by her sons, Wayne R. Noland, and his wife, Patricia M., of Newark, DE, and Jack Noland, and his wife, Roberta, of Warwick, MD; daughter, Cheryl Ann Noland, of Chicago, IL; brother, Robert Ashlin, of Salem, VA; sisters, Audrey MacVey, of Broad Run, VA, and Marie Farmer, of Nemours, WV; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and stepdaughters, Tammy Gaul, of VA, and Dianna Schrier, of NJ. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles R. Noland; second husband, Robert Sturgill; and stepdaughter, Ruth Ann Side.
The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, July 20, 2006, at the R.T. Foard Funeral Home, PA, 318 George Street, Chesapeake City, MD, where friends may call 1 hour prior. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery, in Chesapeake City, MD.
