John J. Stryshak Jr., 71, died suddenly on Friday, Dec. 18, 2009. Born in Perth Amboy, he lived in South Bound Brook since 1964. He was the son of John J., Sr., and Frances Blicharz Stryshak. Mr. Stryshak had been employed by Union Carbide in Piscataway for 36 years, the last 25 as customer service representative. He had joined the Air Force National Guard in 1960, and was called to active duty in 1961, during the "Berlin Crisis." He was discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1966. An accomplished guitarist, he had played with Ish Phillips Orchestra and the John Stryker Trio. He and his wife, Rita, were also active members of the South Bound Brook and the Bound Brook Senior Citizens Clubs. A devoted communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church, South Bound Brook, John attended the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament every Thursday at the church.
Besides his parents, John was also predeceased by an infant son, Joseph Patrick in 1962. Surviving are his devoted wife, the former Rita Paduch. They were married on September 9, 1960, at St. Mary's Church, Bound Brook; His daughter, Carol and husband Todd Crawford of Phillipsburg; his son, Paul and wife Irene Stryshak of South Bound Brook; their beloved grandchildren, Connor and Jillian Crawford, and Matteo Stryshak; his brother, Ronald and wife Marie of East Brunswick; sister, Carlotta and husband Richard Jessen of Manahawkin, and his sister-in-law, Nancy Paduch of Bound Brook.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral 9:15 A.M. Wednesday, December 23, 2009, from the Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave., Bound Brook, followed by a 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Of Mercy Church. Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hillsborough. Visitation Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM.
