NO. WATERBORO -- Larry D. Mooers, 52, of No. Waterboro, died Friday, April 23, 2010 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice in Scarborough. Larry's fight against cancer was inspiring to many. His strength, positive attitude and determination to live was incredible. He was born August 2, 1957 in Saco, a son of Roger W. and Jean Hanson Mooers. He was a graduate of Thornton Academy, Class of 1975.
Larry had most recently worked at the Shaws Distribution center in Wells for 19 years as a Maintenance Technician.
On Feb. 11, 2005 he married Laura J. Voisine Bouvier in Nassau, Bahamas.
He was currently a member of the Masonic Lodge in Old Orchard Beach.
A very sociable individual he enjoyed time spent with friends and family. Larry enjoyed riding his motorcycle, often riding for local charity benefit runs. In addition he enjoyed yard work, landscaping, building model cars, restoring Hot Rods and auto racing in his younger years at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. He loved tattoos, finishing his final tattoo last week.
Surviving are his wife Laura J. Mooers of No. Waterboro; his parents, Roger and Jean Mooers of Dayton; two daughters, Angela M. Mooers of Standish and Cassandra L. Mooers of No. Waterboro, one stepson, Dalton S. Bouvier of No. Waterboro, one stepdaughter, Paige A. Bouvier of Lyman; four brothers, Mark W. Mooers and his wife Kim of Dayton , Barry R. Mooers and his wife Donna of Wells, Scott B. Mooers and his wife Jean of Alfred, Jay K. Mooers and his wife Linda of Saco and one sister, Pam Riche of Alfred; one granddaughter, Kayla Hodge; several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday April 27, and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hope Memorial Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford.
