Power Man Drowns Saturday

Power area pioneer, Grover Roberson, 80, was a holiday drowning victim Saturday. He was found in a farm pond near his home 9-1/2 miles northeast of Power. He apparently fell in the clear six-foot-deep pond where he frequently went to watch the fish. Roberson was missed by his wife about 11 a.m. She looked for him at the pond, then called the Power Volunteer Fire Department for help. The body was recovered Saturday afternoon in about six feet of water.

Roberson was known throughout the state as a stone and agate worker. He was a charter member of the Arrowhead Mineral Club, Great Falls. His work has been displayed in many area museums. An authority on Montana agates, Roberson created wagon models, lamps and furniture of stone.

Roberson was born in English, Indiana, Sept. 15, 1884. He homsteaded near Power and had lived there since. Survivors include the widow, Frankie, also a charter Arrowhead member; a sister and four brothers.

Funeral services were yesterday at Croxford Mortuary, Rev. Theodore Cox officiating. Burial will be in Highland cemetery.
