C. A. D. Clamp, 88 years old, a retired business man of Georgetown, Texas, died at 7 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. P. O. Elterman, 608 Mason street, this city. Mr. Clamp had been a resident of Texas for 69 years. He is survived by his widow and seven children, among whom are Judge C. C. Clamp of San Antonio and Mrs. P. O. Elterman, also of this city.
Other surviving relatives are three sons, W. L. Clamp, an attorney of Bracketville, Tex., and James Clamp also of Bracketville and H. L. Clamp of Austin, assistant chief clerk of the Supreme Court of Texas. The body will be prepared for burial by the Riebe Undertaking Company and will be taken to Georgetown, Tex., leaving San Antonio at 10 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Burial will be in the family burial plot at that place.
Mr. Clamp was born in 1827 at Thorp, Prussia, Germany. He came to the United States at the age of 19 years, landing at Galveston. He later removed to Austin county, where, in 1850 he was united in marriage to Miss Aseneth Davis. His wife, 84 years old, recently under went an operation which was successful and her present condition reported very satisfactory. Mr. Clamp moved to Georgetown in 1851, where he engaged in the furniture business and in which he remained until recently. After his retirement from active business life he removed to San Antonio to be with his children.
