Charles Gilbert Maxey, 70 of Jarrell, entered into rest March 5, 2010 at his home. Charles was born April 9, 1939 to John and Eva (Carnline) Maxey in Austin.

After high school he joined the US Navy, serving his country for the next 20 years. After Charles retired from the Navy he went to work serving Williamson County as a Deputy Sherriff. He took great pride in impacting the lives of those he encountered as he served in this capacity, many recalling he was the one who helped them improve their lives. Charles was a faithful member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Walburg.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Curtis Maxey Sudduth. He leaves to cherish his memory a wife, Nora; children, Texanna and husband Robert Landin, Charles (Erik) and wife Sherri Maxey, Ashley Maxey and husband Shannon Faulkner, Kristen husband Jeff Ivicic, Amanda and husband Don Allen, and Allison Maxey; daughter-in-law, Angie Sudduth; grandchildren, Audrey and Tyler Atkins, Jonathan Foster, Rachel Malone, Stewart and Matthew Landin, Erika Miller, Heather Maxey, Emelia, Micah, and Rebekah Sudduth, Gabriel, Alyssa, and Anthony Esquivel, Samantha Faulkner, Garrett, and Leslee Ivicic, Savannah, Josie, Ty, and Shelby Allen, Aryn Flowers, Abigail Maxey, and baby Charlie Maxey; great-grandchildren, Derik and Damon Miller; sister, Bobbie New.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown. Pastor Rusty Campbell will officiate at the funeral service on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 2:00 pm in St. Peter Lutheran Church in Walburg. Interment will follow with full military honors in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery
