OBITURARY:

JAMES ORVAL GILL

OVALO-James Orval Gill, 76, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, in an Abilene Hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2001. at Ovalo Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Alexander and Chaplain David Tavac officiating. Burial will be in Tuscola Cemetery, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home of Tuscola.

Mr. Gill was Born January 31, 1925, in Bakersfield, CA. He moved to Texas at a very young age and grew up in South Taylor County. He married Nona Quay Sneed June 6, 1942 in Shep. He moved to Abilene in 1952, where he was an officer for the Abilene Police Department for 32 years, retiring in 1985 and was a security officer until 1991 when he moved to Ovalo. He was a member of the Retired Police Officers Association of Abilene and the Ovalo Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his father, C.W. Allmand; two brothers, Cecil Allmand and Floyd Allmand.

Survivors include one son, Larry Gill and wife, Ruth, of Ovalo; three daughters, Sue Harris and husband, Bruce of Ovalo, Carolyn Smith and husband, J. T. and Orvaline Okerstrom, all of Tuscola; his mother, Margie Allmand of Abilene; Two brothers, J. W. Allmand of Ovalo and Gene Allmand of Henrietta; seven grandchildren, Wendi Payne, Tommy Harris, Leigh Ann Wiegert, Lacey Smith, Kory Okerstrom, Kevin Okerstrom and Kystal Okerstrom; four step-grandchildren, Eddie Cannon, Bobbie Brown, Doug Brown and Sherri Knap; three great-grandchildren, Andi Payne, Rhett Payne and Kolten Okerstrom; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, Memorial and Honor Program-NCC, P.O. 2680, North Canton, Ohio 44720

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
