Death of Grandma Shepherd
Mrs. Mary Ann Tracey Shepherd, or Grandma
Shepherd as she "was familiarly
called by her legion of friends, died
at her home in Parts last Tuesday
morning. Mrs. Shepherd, whose
maiden name was Tracey, was born in
England on Jan. 5, 1831, and had
therefore passed the 80th milestone
in life. She was converted to the
Mormon faith, in 1840 and that year
she married William Shepherd. They
came to the United States a few years
later and in 1871 they located in Paris,
where Mr. Shepherd died some years ago.
Although four score years of age,
Mrs. Shepherd was quite active up to
with in three weeks of her death, and
also enjoyed attending meetings and
social gatherings.
She is survived by six sons and three
daughters, all of whom are now in Paris
except one son, Edward T. of Sharon, who
is in the hospital at Salt Lake City.
Her other descendants include 86 grand children
and 88 great-grand children.
Her funeral will be held from the Second Ward
meeting house in Paris this, Friday, afternoon
at 2 0'clock.
