Bernard "Bernie" Herman Dwyer, age 67 of Deer Park, Wis and formerly of Hudson,Wis & Saint Paul, Minnesota, died Tuesday afternoon ,February 20,at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer.Bernard was born on May 25 1933 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

Son of John M. & Hilda(Feldewerd)Dwyer. He attended school in Sauk Centre before enlisting in the Armed Forces. Bernie served four years for the Navy during the Korean War on the U.S.S Battleship Guadeloupe.

Bernie married Joyce Servitius in 1960 in Iowa. This marriage was blessed with three children; Bryan, Sheri and Vicki. The marriage later ended in divorce.

In 1976 he was united in marriage to Mary Helen Solberg at the St Paul Council of Churches. Bernie and Mary lived in Saint Paul prior to living in Hudson from 1981 to 1997 when the couple moved to Deer Park.

Bernie worked 37 years for the Waldorf Company in St.Paul in their shipping department prior to his retirement in 1996. Bernie loved to kid and joke with friends and family. He enjoyed teasing as much as receiving pranks and antics.

He was also an excellent horseshoe player.

His greatest love came from traveling about Ireland with Mary and researching family genealogy and meeting new relatives.

Bernie was very proud of his personal victory over alcoholism and recently was awarded his thirty year sobriety pin.

Bernie is survived by his wife Mary Helen Dwyer; Children: Bryan Dwyer of Saint Paul Park, Sheri (Blaise) Johnson of St Paul Park, Vicki (Edward) St Croix of Cottage Grove, Stepson Tim Croner of Maplewood.

Grandchildren: Lisa Marie & Jennifer Lynn Croner of Saint Paul, Rachelle Joyce Hoover, Austin William & Joseph Ronnel Johnson of St Paul Park, Ryan & Kaile St Croix of Cottage Grove.

Brothers: John (Rosemary) Dwyer of Brooklyn Park, Richard Dwyer of Sauk Centre,Brother in-law John (Rosemary) Solberg of Clintonville,Wis

Sisters: Christine & Janet Dwyer of Sauk Centre; Sister in-law Norma(Carroll)Klanderman of Baldwin,Wisconsin.

And many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Marina Vickerman. Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, February 23 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hammond, Wis. Officiating was Father Alois Gabrus. Organist Mary Cody accompanied the church choir.

A special poem was read by Larry Gillespie.Irish folklore music played as Bernard's Mass completed.Burial was in Ft Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis,Minnesota.
