VINTON: Viroqua V. Garwood, 84, died Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab in Vinton following an extended illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton, with Rev. Kären Larson officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 AM until service time on Saturday. Private Committal Services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.
Viroqua was born October 23, 1924 to Wilbur and Althea Winegard and graduated from East Waterloo High School.
On January 10, 1943 she was united in marriage to Jack D. Garwood at Waterloo.
Viroqua served as receptionist and cashier for Benton Co. REC prior to her retirement.
She is survived by her husband, Jack of Vinton; her sister, Helen Freh of Minnesota; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Her son, Jerry Garwood preceded her in death on January 18, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and one sister.
