Norma had dated his brother Feddie (Freddie) Starritt before dating Bob. When Norma first met Robert Paul's parents as his new bride, the family was upset! She was wearing a flapper dress, short sleeved, tight, short with a belt at the hips. She had her hair bobbed and thought that she looked terrific. The Starritt family was upset because the Starritt women only wore long dresses with long sleeves and never cut their hair.
After Norma passed away, Bob married Minnie Pearl Agnew Dopson in Olney, Young County, Texas in the early 1980's. They had a great marriage until Minnie Pearl died in 1990. After her death, Bob went to live with his daughter Norma in Lamar County, Alabama.
Robert Paul's grandkids always called him GrandBob. I remember when we would go to visit him, he would always call me Sissy. (After his daughter's nickname of Sis). The visits to his home were always fun. I remember that our dog Chico didn't like him very well. I think it was because GrandBob would always pester and pick at him. He pestered and picked at everyone he loved. That was his way of telling us he loved us.
Robert Paul died on January 3, 1994 in Vernon, Lamar County, Alabama after a long battle with Alzheimers. He is buried at the Olton Cemetery in Olton, Lamb County, Texas. He was a very special man, never to be forgotten.
