His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Forrest United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Powers officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Forrest. Cremation rites will be accorded after the funeral.
The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Richard was born Dec. 18, 1937, a son of Oscar and Grace Carter Supancic Overturf. He married Shirley Connor. He later married Phyllis Hamilton on Sept. 4, 1986, at Pontiac. She survives in Forrest.
Also surviving are two daughters, Sedina (Phillip) Doyle, Wilmington; and Lesa (Wayne) Moran, North Aurora; one son, Dwayne Overturf, Westmont; one stepson, Brian (Jennifer) Leach, Coal City; seven grandchildren, Serina, Sean and Doug Doyle; Whitney, Shelby and Mackenzie Leach; and Hyapatia Overturf; one sister; Judy Mygatt, Fairbury; and three brothers, Jimmy Supancic, Rochelle; Jerry Supancic, Benton; and Perry Supancic, Louisville, Ky.
He was preceded in death by one brother, William Overturf.
Richard was educated in Benton schools and was employed at Johnson and Johnson Baby Products; at Lemont in the shipping department for 27 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean conflict and was a member of the Forrest American Legion.
