Debra Hammond
Debra "Debbie" Lynn Hesgard Haggard Hammond died Friday, Dec. 15, on her 43rd birthday at her parents' home where she was recuperating from open heart surgery she had on Dec. 7.
A memorial funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Cascade Locks Community Church, 5 S.W. Benson St., Cascade Locks, OR 97014.
A private family interment will follow at a later date at the Cascade Locks Cemetery.
Debbie was born and raised in Portland. She married Brian Haggard in 1983. Debbie's daughter, Patrese, was born in 1987 and daughter Brianna was born in 1993. Debbie and her family moved to Cascade Locks in 1991.
Debbie was remarried in 2005 to Robert Hammond. She helped coach her daughter Patrese's T-ball team and was very active in both of her daughters' lives. Debbie's daughters were her world and everyone around her knew it.
When Debbie moved to Cascade Locks she worked at the East Wind Drive Inn, and then, most recently, at the Columbia Market.
Debbie was always there for her family whether it be to provide a ride, a baby sitter, a place to stay or just someone to talk to. You could always count on her.
Debbie always had an opinion and was never to afraid to express it. If you needed advice you knew you could go to her for the truth because she never sugar-coated anything. Debbie enjoyed the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest, from fishing to camping. She had an obsession for shopping for purses; it seemed as if she would buy a new one almost every time she went shopping.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Robert Hammond, of Vancouver, Wash.; parents, Ralph and Pat Hesgard of Cascade Locks, Ore.; daughters, Patrese and Brianna Haggard of Cascade Locks, Ore.; sisters, Vickie Jung of Florence, Ore., and Tena Kaske of Cascade Locks; nieces Maryann Vansickle, Sara Curl, and Kenndra and Hannah Kaske; nephews Robert Mattson, Paul Hesgard, Thom Jung and Ron Vansickle; great-nieces Jestena Mattson, Delayne Hesgard, Alexis Mattson, and Sierra Cross; great-nephews Gage Armstrong, Skylar and Izaac Mattson, Alex Vansickle and Mason Jung.
She was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be missed by all.
A memorial trust fund has been established for Debbie's daughters at the Hood River Wells Fargo Bank or remembrances can be sent in care of Anderson's Tribute Center.
Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals, Receptions, Cremations), 1401 Belmont Ave., Hood River, OR 97031; (541) 386-1000;
