HERMAN D. THURSTON
Herman D. Thurston, 87, of Midland and formerly of Gladwin, died Saturday, Nov.26, 1994 at the MidMichigan Regional Medical Center - Midland. Born June 7, 1907 in Leiters Ford, Ind., he was employed with the Dow Chemical Co. for 36 years before retiring in 1965. In 1970, Mr. Thurston moved to Las Vegas, Nev. before returning to Midland in 1990. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrement Catholic Church and enjoyed being with his family, traveling and was an avid bingo player. Mr. Thurston married the former Helen Mae Hanna Sept. 21, 1957 in Gladwin.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Jerry and wife Lois, and David and wife Arlene; one daughter, JoAnn and husband Leonard Cobb, all of Midland; 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Thurston was preceded in death by 3 brothers, William, Clarence and Albert.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11a.m. Dec. 1 from the Blessed Sacrement Catholic Church with the Rev. John Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Midland Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Ware-Smith-Woolever & Co. Funeral Home, Midland.
