Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock from the Central Methodist church, Radford, for Garner T. Jackson, 56, of the Highland community. Mr. Jackson, who had been a teacher in the Virginia schools for the past 22 years, died at 6:30 Wednesday evening while driving his car near his home. He had been in failing health for several years, but taught school the day of his death at Walton, where he was a faculty member this session. Mr. Jackson was a member of Central Methodist church, Radford, and the Rev. H.B. Tiller conducted the services. Active pallbearers were his nephews, Eldridge Blair, R.A. Jackson, Jr., Owen E. Jackson, John H. Jackson and Charles Jackson. Members of the Garner Jackson Bible class were honorary pall bearers. Mr. Jackson was born June 26, 1893, in Wythe county, a son of John & Julia Armbrister Jackson. He is survived by his wife, Lily Hager Jackson; one sister, Mrs. Joe Blair, of Wythe county; and one brother, Richard Jackson, of Wythe county.
