Evie Lou Jones Holman was born March 5, 1908, in San Augustine, Texas to the late Samuel “Sammie” Jones and Roxie Wilson Jones. She was the third child born in the family of ten children.

Six of her siblings preceded her in death, three brothers; Arthur Jones, Woodrow Wilson Jones Sr. and Joe Bailey Jones; three sisters; Arnette Jones Dodd, Verda Jones and Emma B. Jones Holman.

Evie Lou accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age.

She was united in holy matrimony to McKinley “Tang” Holman in 1928. To this union nine children were born. One preceded her in death, Joyce Evelyn Holman.

Evie Lou was an active member of Lanetown C.M.E. Church until her health failed. She was a diligent worker in the church. She held the position of Sunday School Teacher, Trustee, Missionary and sung in the choir.

She moved to Beaumont to be closer to her children when her health began to fail.

After a lengthy illness she departed this life on December 18, 1999 at Memorial Herman Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.

She leaves to cherish her memory eight children; Hollis Cleveland Holman, Lurtese Robinson, Charles Ray Holman, Anetia Lavyone Holman Bossette, McKinley Holman Jr., Terry Holman, Sr., Delano Holman, R.E. Holman, two sons-in-law; T.R. Robinson and Albeno Bossette Jr., four daughters-in-law; Rose Holman, Annie Holman, Carolyn Holman and Carolyn Holman.

Twenty-four grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Two sisters Lydia Guidry and Georgia B. Canton. One brother John W. Jones and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
