April K. Escamilla, 58, of Amarillo died Monday, July 6, 2009.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with Max Beggs, retired pastor, and T.C. Messer, pastor of Harvest Time PCG, officiating. Private family burial will be in Llano Cemetery.

April was born April 1, 1951, in Amarillo, where she was raised. She was a graduate of Caprock High School.

She married Tony Escamilla in 1993, in Trinidad, Colo.

She was very passionate in serving her Lord, Jesus Christ, and did so in playing the piano and writing songs. April had been a guest pianist and soloist at several churches around the area, and was a member of both Caprock Fellowship and Pleasant Valley Pentecostal churches.

She was a tremendous prayer warrior, and was always willing to help someone in need. She also expressed interest in antiques and quilting.

Family was an important part of her life, which included her cat and four dogs that she loved deeply. She will be dearly missed.

The family would like to thank the staff of Odyssey Hospice, and Davita and Lynnie Hart for their care and support.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Ruby Tow; a daughter, Star Celeste Hiltbrunner; two brothers, Bob Tow and J.D. Holland; and two sisters, Jean Campsey and Ruth Tow.

Survivors include her loving husband, Tony Escamilla; a son, Adam Hiltbrunner and wife Bridgette; a stepson, Anthony Escamilla and wife Tina of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Christina Zapata and husband Michael of Plainview; five brothers, I.J. Tow and wife Ann, Frank Tow and wife Betty, Max Tow and John Holland and wife Shirley, all of Amarillo, and Robert Holland and wife Rachel of South Texas; nine sisters, Rebecca Asbury and husband Phillip of Willcox, Ariz., Patsy Voyles and husband Lewis, Mary Preciado and Marylyn Norman and husband Dan, all of South Texas, Sybil Woods and Shirley Moore, both of Amarillo, Joyce Montgomery of Phoenix, Yvonne Carver and husband Joe of Fort Worth and Sharon Reeder and husband Dan of Nevada; an aunt, Evelyn Burleson and husband Albert of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Jamin, Jade and Josiah Hiltbrunner and Anna Escamilla; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tony Sr. and Joyce Escamilla of Amarillo; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family suggests memorials be to Gideons International, 2200 W. Seventh Ave., Amarillo, TX 79106; or Odyssey Hospice, 6900 W. Interstate 40, Suite 150, Amarillo, TX 79106.
