Searle E. Baker, 52 of 115 S. Benton St., died at 10:35 AM today after an illness of two weeks at the St. Joseph's Hospital. He lived in Davenport for more than 25 years until three years ago when he returned to Ottumwa, where he was employed as a barber. He was born May 30, 1894 and Wapello County the son of Richard and Rhoda Baker, and is survived by the following immediate relatives; his wife, Mrs. Bessie Baker; two daughters, Mrs. Georgia Riordan and Mrs. Evelyn Poppen, both of Chicago, and a granddaughter, Nancy Lynne Edge. He is also survived by two brothers, Warren Baker of San Francisco and Noel Baker, of Ottumwa. The bodies of the Lester Jay funeral home where it will remain pending completion of funeral arrangements. Funeral services for Searle E. Baker, who died at St. Joseph's hospital Monday morning will be held Wednesday at 1:30 PM at the Lester Jay funeral home in charge of the Rev. Harold Roberts, pastor of the First Christian church. Burial will be in the McCormick cemetery.
