Mae J. (Wray) Skillen, 86, formerly of Worcester, died Monday, June 8 in Vernon Manor Rest Home in Vernon, CT.

Her husband, Edward Skillen, Sr. predeceased her in April, 1989. She leaves her sister, Helen M. Shaw, wife of the late Royal Shaw of West Boylston. She is predeceased by two brothers: William J. Wray of Cohoes, NY in 1997 and Earl J. Wray of Worcester in 2006. She leaves four step children: Dr. Edward Skillen, Jr. of VA, Thomas Skillen of GA, Nancy Melough and Susan Van Wyck of CT; 12 grandchildren; nephews and nieces.

She was the daughter of John and Sarah (Stevenson) Wray and was born in Worcester moving to Connecticut in 1982. Mae is a graduate of the former Commerce High School and the Emmaus Bible School formerly of Chicago, IL. She was employed by Norton Company and Prudential Insurance Company, retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Prospect Bible Chapel in Hartford, CT and a former member of the Bethany Gospel Chapel in Worcester, MA.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Vernon Manor for their kindness and love shown to Mae in the last five years.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, June 11 in Hope Cemetery, 196 Webster Street, Worcester, MA. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mae's memory to the Christian Missions in Many Lands, Inc., P.O. Box 13, Spring Lake, New Jersey 07762.
