I am so grateful for the sponsorship of Ma's site by my longtime findagrave friend, Patty Valentino"

Called Ma with great affection by her grandchildren. The best grandmother anyone could ask for.

She was a seamstress who worked out of her house making clothes for many people in the area. I never met a soul who didn't love her to death.

Grandmother of 11.
Great grandmother of 18.

Many thanks to David and Elaine Shelton for providing the headstone photograph.

If I had but one day left, she would be who I would want to spend it with. She is the biggest loss in my life.

Married 17 July 1917.

When the RR transferred my grandparents to Texas from Oklahoma, my grandmother and their kids went to Texas by bus but the RR had the pigs transported there by rail. She got a kick out of telling how the pigs got to go in style, but she and the kids got bussed down there.

Not long after Pa died, she bought a new stove. My sister asked her why she did that. She said well your grandfather would have bought me anything he ever thought I needed. He just didnt know I needed a new stove.

Although I was always a picky eater, she was the best cook in the world. When I mowed her yard as a teenager, she would always bake me a chocolate pie while I was out mowing. If she had been of the Catholic demonination, she would have been sainted for sure.

With a upcoming Presidential Election coming in 1972, I asked her if she thought Pa would have voted for Nixon. She said "Your Pa wouldn't have voted for a Republican if Jesus Christ were running on the ticket."

Several years prior, I had asked her how long people lived. She stated that some thought that you lived until you paid for your sins. I said well I guess I'm going to live a long time, huh? She laughed so hard and gave me a hug.
