Samuel Duncan Rites Are Held March 11
Final rites for Samuel Henderson Duncan, 83, a life-long resident of the Tipton area, were held at Sheets and Son funeral home March 11 with the Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Burial was in Sand Hill cemetery west of Tipton.
Pallbearers were Leonard Port, Leonard Dice, W. A. Barkhurst, Gale Gisel, Claire Foote and Louis Peterson.
Mr. Duncan died at the Tipton Custodial home March 9 following a long illness.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. James Duncan, he was born near Tipton May 2, 1888 and was educated in the rural schools. He was married to Nora Jane Pearce at Tipton in 1911.
A carpenter and tile installer he lived in the Tipton area all of his life. He was a Methodist.
Mr. Duncan is survived by a son, Robert, Rock Island, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Carl (Bertha) Barker, Cedar Rapids and 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 2 sisters, a son, a daughter and a step-daughter.
